Deutsche Bank to Launch Crypto Custody Services in Partnership with Bitpanda
Deutsche Bank, Germany's financial heavyweight with $740 billion in assets, is making a decisive move into digital assets. The institution plans to launch cryptocurrency custody services by 2026 through a strategic partnership with Bitpanda, Europe's largest crypto broker. This collaboration builds on their existing relationship established in June 2024 for real-time payment solutions.
The initiative signals growing institutional acceptance of cryptocurrencies within traditional finance. Taurus, a Swiss fintech specializing in digital asset infrastructure, will provide technical support for the custody platform. Deutsche Bank's crypto push comes as European regulators finalize MiCA framework, which may impose limitations on banks' digital asset activities.
